We sometimes receive requests to send parts via regular international mail instead of DHL as this reduces shipping costs and /or saves on import duties.

We can do this, but under the condition that we don’t have to follow up if a package is lost or damaged.

In the past, we frequently used PostNL to send packages abroad. Too often, there were cases where packages were damaged or lost, and despite the shipment being insured, we received no compensation from PostNL.
Below is an example of a shipment containing two R60/2 pistons to the USA: the package had been sitting in heavy rain and was delivered late, resulting in the pistons being corroded. PostNL demanded a damage report from their local partner, USPS. However, USPS refused and referred our customer back to us. In turn, PostNL refused to reimburse us for the damage due to the lack of a damage report. Our loss amounted to several hundred euros for two pistons and the replacement shipping costs.

This is just 1 example.
