Problems with Cork Gaskets

The reason for sometimes moving away from cork gaskets is because they do present a number of problems. Some of the most common issues associated with cork gaskets are: cracking, stretching, crumbling apart and drying out.

Newer cork gaskets, like this part,  also have rubber incorporated into them, which has been a major improvement.
