This seal must prevent the oil from moving from the cardan shaft / swing arm to the final drive, therefore the open side must face forward.

Oil leakage to the final drive can have 2 other causes:

- via the screw thread of the threaded ring (PN33123038252)

- via the splines of the pinion and the coupling hub (PN33123038260)
