This tool was originally developed by BMW for the R51/2 and only had 3 holes for mounting the gearbox.

We added a 4th hole, but it is not intended to fasten the gearbox with 4 bolts.

When using the tool horizontally, this 4th hole allows you to mount the gearbox on both sides:

on one side the /2 gearbox (opens at the front) and on the other side the /3 gearbox (opens at the back)
